2 Box House

The 2 Box House explores the interplay between two distinct architectural volumes, each responding to its context while forming a unified whole. Designed by DF Architects in Vadodara, the project balances openness with enclosure, creating spaces that feel both expansive and intimate.

Natural light filters through strategically placed openings, animating the material surfaces throughout the day. The landscape serves as the connective tissue — binding the volumes together and grounding the house in its site. The two boxes are offset to create a series of outdoor rooms — courtyards, terraces, and light wells that bring the outside in.

Inside, a restrained palette of stone, wood, and plaster creates a calm backdrop for daily life. The living and dining areas open onto a central courtyard, while the upper-level bedrooms enjoy privacy and framed views of the surrounding neighbourhood. The residence is designed for a growing family that values both togetherness and personal space — a home where structure, light, and landscape form a cohesive whole.
